Haley Synan (Belchertown, Mass./Belchertown) took home three first-place finishes and classmate
Austin Richardson (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) finished first in two events for the men, but the Le Moyne College men's and women's swimming and diving teams were swept by Ithaca College on Friday night at the Ithaca Athletics and Events Center Aquatics Pavilion. The Women's swim team fell 155-82 to the Bombers, who handed the men's team a 174-63 loss.
Synan clinched her first top-place finish of the day in the 1000-yard freestyle, where she touched in at 11:03.59, which was 17.55 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. In the 200-yard individual medley, she took first with a time of 2:18.38. During the 200-yard butterfly, Synan reached the wall at a time of 2:13.7, nearly nine seconds faster than her next opponent.
On the men's side, Richardson took first in two of the longest events of the day. In the 1000-yard freestyle, he finished with a time of 10:17:31 to win by almost four seconds. His second victory came in the 500-yard freestyle, where he reached the wall at a time of 4:59.53, over 10 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
The Dolphins open the home portion of their schedule on Saturday against RIT at 1:00 p.m.
