Williamsville, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis team had four double winners en route to a 7-2 victory over Daemen College on Saturday afternoon at the Miller Tennis Center.
The Dolphins took a 2-1 lead through the doubles competition. Junior
Tiffany Hamdan (Johnson City, N.Y./Johnson City/Roberts Wesleyan) and freshman
Caroline St. Antoine (Longueuil, Québec/Cégep Édouard-Montpetit) picked up the first point of the day with an 8-0 victory at the third spot over Jessica Robins and Morgan Park. Freshmen
Marta Nunez (Rye, N.Y./Antonio Lopez (Spain)) and
Camila Humala (Lima, Peru/Antonio Raimondi) were victorious at the second position over Gretchen Ringler and Giovanna Paschoalin, 8-6. Lorissa Yuen and Christina Stasiuk claimed the point at the first spot for Daemen with an 8-4 win over seniors
Rithika Vajjiravelu (Chennai, Tamil Nadu/Kendriya Vidyalaya) and
Amica Benoit-Limosani (Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec/Collège Saint-Maurice).
Le Moyne captured five of the six matches in the singles competition. Vajjiravelu defeated Yuen at the first position, 6-2, 6-4, while Hamdan claimed the point at the second spot after Paschoalin retired in the second set. St. Antoine collected her 15th win of the year by downing Ringler at the fourth spot, 6-2, 6-3. Nunez improved to 20-3 with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Robins at the fifth position. Humala posted back-to-back scores of 6-2 to defeat Park at the sixth spot for her 16th win of the campaign. Stasiuk recorded her second point of the afternoon with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Benoit-Limosani at the third position.
Le Moyne (15-5) concludes its season on Wednesday, April 4 at Colgate University at 4:00 p.m.
