Jamesville, N.Y. – Junior
Bianca Cruz-Hernandez (Lake Mary, Fla./Lake Mary) earned medalist honors with a program-record 148 to lead the Le Moyne College women's golf team to a fifth-place finish at the Le Moyne Fall Invitational on Sunday and Monday at the par-72, 6275-yard The Pompey Club.
West Chester University captured the team competition with a two-day score of 634 off rounds of 316 and 318. Franklin Pierce University, last year's winner, finished in second place with a 642 total after turning in scores of 324 and 318. Gannon University placed third for the second straight year with a 656 off rounds 329 and 327, while Mercyhurst University was next at 663 with scores of 335 and 328. The Dolphins carded rounds of 336 and 335 to place fifth for the second straight year with a 663.
Cruz-Hernandez is the third Dolphin to earn medalist honors at a two-day event, the first to do so since 2013 (Emily Stickel at William Smith) and the first to post a first-place finish with an all Division-II field. In Sunday's first round, Cruz-Hernandez registered three birdies and 14 pars en route to a program-record round of one-under par 71. She is the first Dolphin to shoot par or better as the previous program-record was a two-over par 74, which was set by then-sophomore
Katherine Walsh '17 at The Pompey Club two years ago. Cruz-Hernandez then registered a 77 in the second round, including two more birdies, to finish with her program-record four-over par 148. She set the previous 36-hole record of nine-over par 153 at SUNY Cortland's Martin & Wallace Invitational last October.
Sophomore
Micayla Moldenke (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer) registered a pair of career bests en route to a three-way tie for 17th place. She tallied a career-best 83 in the first round and followed with an 84 in the second round to finish with a career-best 167.
Junior
Lauren Kase (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart) recorded a 176 off rounds of 89 and 87 to finish in a tie for 33rd place.
Freshman
Meghan McKeen (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) carded a season-best 180 following rounds of 93 and a season-best 87 to tie for 37th place.
Redshirt sophomore
S. B. (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.) finished in 51st place in her home debut off scores of 105 and 110.
The Dolphins return to action on Sunday and Monday at the Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational at Keene Country Club in Keene, New Hampshire.
