WOMEN’S GOLF PLACES THIRD AT ORANGE TREE INVITATIONAL

Orlando, Fla. – Freshman Caroline McShea (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) placed fifth to lead the Le Moyne College women's golf team to a third-place finish at the Le Moyne-hosted Orange Tree Invitational on Monday at the par-72, 5696-yard Orange Tree Golf Club.

Manhattan University won the team championship at the 36-hole event with a total of 641 off rounds of 322 and 319. Bryant University placed second at 655 with scores of 334 and 321. The Dolphins tallied rounds of 333 and 331 to place third at 664. Manhattan's Nawel Ben Letaief earned medalist honors with a 151 after rounds of 76 and 75.

McShea recorded a total of 162, which included two birdies and 18 pars, to finish fifth among the 40 competitors. She opened with an 81, including one birdie and 10 pars, to land in a tie for fourth place. She carded another 81, with one birdie and eight pars, in the second round to dip a spot.

Junior Gianna Cafarella (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory School) placed seventh with a 164, which included two birdies and 18 pars. She registered an 86 in the first round, which included eight pars, to land in a five-way tie for 11th. She moved up four spots in the afternoon with a 78, which featured two birdies and 10 pars.

Sophomore Lauren Williams (San Francisco, Calif./University HS) was one shot back with a 165, including four birdies and 10 pars, to finish in a three-way tie for eighth. She tallied two birdies and six pars in the first round en route to an 80 place third. She had two more birdies and four pars on her way to an 85 in the second round.

Senior Riley Stuver (Webster, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) finished in a three-way tie for 20th with a 176, including two birdies and 12 pars. She recorded an 86, which featured eight pars, to join Cafarella in the five-way tie for 11th. She posted two birdies and four pars en route to a 90 in the afternoon.

Freshman Elizabeth Holden (Clinton, Maine/Lawrence) was a shot behind at 177, which featured 16 pars, to land in a three-way tie for 23rd. She had nine pars in the first round to finish with a 90 and a tie for 24th place. She moved up one spot in the second round with an 87, including six pars.
