Warren, Ohio – Freshman
Caroline McShea (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) placed 13th to lead the Le Moyne College women's golf team to a third-place finish at the YSU Spring Invitational on Sunday and Monday at the par-72, 5899-yard Trumbull Country Club.
The host Penguins won the team title with a two-day total of 620 following rounds of 313 and 307. Mercyhurst University placed second at 656 with scores of 341 and 315. The Dolphins posted rounds of 329 and 336 to finish third at 665. YSU's Valentina Pena Anaya earned medalist honors with a 149 following rounds of 74 and 75.
McShea placed 13th in the 39-member field with a 163, which included three birdies and 14 pars. She opened with a 75, featuring two birdies and eight pars, to land in a four-way tie for second place. She then posted one birdie and six pars en route to an 85 on Monday.
Sophomore
Lauren Williams (San Francisco, Calif./University HS) finished 14th with a 164, which featured two birdies and 17 pars. She carded an 80, including one birdie and nine pars, to finish the first round in a three-way tie for eighth. She followed with an 84, featuring one birdie and eight pars, in the second round.
Junior
Gianna Cafarella (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory School) tied for 16th place at 166, which included 16 pars. In the first round, she had an 83, including eight pars, to place in a three-way tie for 15th. She had eight more pars en route to another 83 on Monday.
Sophomore
Olivia Dahn (Bristol, Conn./St. Paul Catholic) finished in a three-way tie for 26th with a total of 172, which featured one birdie and 13 pars. She tallied an 88 on Sunday, including seven pars, to finish in a four-way tie for 25th. She recorded an 84, with one birdie and six pars, in the second round.
Senior
Riley Stuver (Webster, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) and freshman
Elizabeth Holden (Clinton, Maine/Lawrence) tied for 29th place at 174 with Stuver posting three birdies and 11 pars and Holden having one birdie and 13 pars. Stuver joined Dahn in the first-round tie for 25th at 88 with two birdies and five pars. She then had one birdie and six pars en route to recording an 86 on Monday. Holden also was part of the tie for 25th after a first-round 88, which included one birdie and six pars. She followed with an 86 in the second round, which featured seven pars.
Junior
Cambell Kennedy (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa), who played as an individual, finished in a three-way tie for 18th at 167, which included three birdies and 13 pars. She was tied for 20th after a first-round 86, which featured eight pars. She moved up two spots on Monday with an 81, which included three birdies and five pars.
The Dolphins close out their pre-Championship schedule on Wednesday, April 15 at the Skyhawk Senior Showdown at Thorny Lea Golf Club in Brockton, Massachusetts.
