BENTLEY USES LATE GOAL TO EDGE WOMEN’S SOCCER, 1-0

Syracuse, N.Y. – Rebecca Nguyen headed in a corner kick with just under six minutes left to give Bentley University a 1-0 win over the Le Moyne College women's soccer team in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Field on Saturday afternoon.

In the scoreless first half, Bentley registered a 9-1 advantage in shots, including a 3-1 edge in shots on goal. Bentley put shots on goal in the 13th, 21st and 33rd minutes, while Le Moyne recorded its only shot of the half in the 41st minute.

The Falcons registered five shots on goal in the first 27 minutes of the second half, but each was saved by freshman goalkeeper Allison Moreau (Sauquoit, N.Y./Sauquoit Valley).

Bentley scored the only goal it would need in the 85th minute. Off a corner kick from the left side by Keagan Castles, Nguyen headed the ball from inside the right corner of the goal box into the back of the net at the 84:09 mark for her second goal of the season.

Le Moyne put a shot on goal with 2:08 remaining, but it was saved.

Moreau finished the contest with five second-half saves in suffering her first career loss. Kat Hassapis turned away three shots to earn the win between the pipes. Bentley finished the game with a 17-5 advantage in shots, while posting a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.

Le Moyne (1-12-1, 0-10-1 NE10) concludes its non-conference schedule on Wednesday against Mercy College at 3:00 p.m.
