Brockport, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's and men's indoor track and field teams opened their sixth season on Saturday by competing at the non-scoring College at Brockport Season Opener.
The quartet of freshmen
Cleo Baker (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post),
Shaina Smith (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa),
Catherine Durant (Arverne, N.Y./Metropolitan Expeditionary Learning School) and
Julianna Szczech (Camillus, N.Y./Marcellus) won the 4x400-meter relay by almost two seconds with a time of 4:34.57.
Smith started her college career by placing fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 10.36 seconds.
Baker opened her collegiate career by placing fifth in the 400-meter dash in 1:05.11.
Junior
Mollie Engle (Roscoe, N.Y./Roscoe) opened the season with a sixth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles in 10.81 seconds. She placed ninth in the high jump by clearing the bar at 4-feet, 6.75-inches.
Szczech cleared the pole vault bar at 7-feet, 6.5-inches in her collegiate debut to place sixth.
Freshman
Morgan Sartor (Portland, Conn./Innovation) registered a distance of 39-feet, 6-inches in the weight throw to place seventh to start her collegiate career.
Durant got her college career started by finishing eighth in the 400-meter dash in 1:07.24.
On the men's side, sophomore
William Bilow (Chasm Falls, N.Y./Franklin) registered a mark of 6-feet, 1.25-inches in the high jump to tie for third place, the best finish by a Dolphin.
Freshman
Christian Carlin-Saracene (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) finished fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:05.61 in his collegiate debut.
Sophomore
Kyle VanCoughnett (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) opened the year with a seventh-place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:10.33.
Freshman
Matthew Sinnenberg (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) began his college career by placing seventh in the 5,000-meter in 16:27.36.
Freshman
Nolan Hillhouse (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon) registered a leap of 20-feet, 3-inches in the long jump to place seventh to start his collegiate career. He also placed seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 41-feet, 2.25-inches.
Freshman
Nicholas Hafner (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) placed eighth in the high jump in his collegiate debut with a height of 5-feet, 9.25-inches.
The team of sophomore
Anthony Pauli (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse), junior
Jordan Devereaux (Syracuse, N.Y./Solvay), VanCoughnett and Carlin-Saracene placed sixth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:47.44.
The Dolphins open the Spring semester on Friday, January 10 at the Saint Thomas Aquinas College Spartan Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.
