Syracuse, N.Y. – Three different Dolphins found the back of the net as the Le Moyne College men's soccer team registered a 3-0 victory over Caldwell University in non-conference action on Friday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.
The Dolphins scored the only goal they would need just under 15 minutes into the contest. After carrying the ball into the penalty box from the right side, junior midfielder
Robert Rohrhirsch (Garching bei München, Germany/Werner-Heisenberg-Gymnasium Garching/Munich University of Applied Sciences) fired a shot on net from the right corner of the goal. The shot was saved, but Rohrhirsch continued his run and knocked the loose ball into the net at the 14:46 mark for his second goal of the season.
Just nine minutes later, the Dolphins doubled their lead. After receiving the ball at the top left corner of the penalty box, sophomore midfielder
Noah Moothedan (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) sent a pass into the middle of the penalty box, where first-year graduate student forward
Goran Naric (Neuwied, Germany/Rhein-Wied-Gymnasium/Hochschule Koblenz) collected the feed and fired a shot into the right side of the net at the 23:46 mark for his fourth tally of the campaign.
The Cougars took the final five shots of the half, but only one was on target and it was saved.
After having six shots saved in the opening 30 minutes of the second half, the Dolphins completed the game's scoring with 2:19 remaining. Off a pass from the left side by junior midfielder
Joe Falcone (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius), Moothedan corralled the ball and sent a low shot under the goalkeeper from the top right corner of the penalty box for his second marker of the year.
Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper
Josh Mahr (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) registered two saves in the first half to earn his second straight shutout. Nils Svere tallied eight saves in the loss for the Cougars. The Dolphins held a 13-12 edge in shots, including a 9-3 advantage in the second half, while recording a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Le Moyne (3-0), which is off to a 3-0 start for the third straight year, returns to action on Tuesday at Daemen College at 3:00 p.m.
