MEN’S TRACK PLACES FIFTH, WOMEN EIGHTH AT UTICA COLLEGE INVITATIONAL

Utica, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's indoor track and field finished in fifth place on Saturday at the Utica College Invitational. The women's team turned in an eighth-place finish.
 
The men's team registered 52 points to earn fifth place out of eleven teams. RPI won the team competition with 177.50 points, while SUNY Cortland was second with 128.
 
Leading the Dolphins with a combined 14 points is sophomore William Bilow (Chasm Falls, N.Y./Franklin) by ranking first in the high jump with a height of 6-feet, 0.5-inch and a 40-feet, 10.25-inch triple jump that ranked him fifth.
 
A 4x400 meter team including sophomore Kenny Barrett (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Lady of Lourdes), sophomore Paul Stannard (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee), freshman Christian Carlin-Saracene (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) and sophomore Jacob Schmid (Ontario, N.Y./Wayne) with a finishing time of 3:35.90 landed the Dolphins in third place with six points.
 
Schmid also registered 10 additional points for the Dolphins with his first-place finish in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:08.38.
 
In the 5,000-meter race, freshman Matthew Sinnenberg (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) finished second with a time of 16:44.47 earning the Dolphins eight points. Also earning points for the Dolphins in the event was junior Brandon Brusehaber (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) with a 17:18.71 finish and sophomore Max Rohrbacher (New York, N.Y./Xavier) finished with a time of 18:17.38.
 
Freshman Nicholas Hafner (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) ranked fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.17.
 
Also contributing to the Dolphin's fifth place finish were freshman Ben Dertinger (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) in the 800 meter and Carlin-Saracene in the 1,000 meter.
 
The women's team finished with 30 points, ranking them eighth for the afternoon. RPI won the team competition with 178 points, while Eastern Connecticut State was second with 113.
 
Leading the scoring was senior Mya Walters (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) with 10 points and a time of 19:58.80 in the 5,000-meter race.
 
The Dolphins finished in third place in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:25.65 from the team of freshmen Cleo Baker (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post), Chloe Hanson (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties), Catherine Durant (Arverne, N.Y./Metropolitan Expeditionary Learning School) and Shaina Smith (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa).
 
Smith also earned points for the Dolphins with her sixth-place finish in the 60 meter hurdles in 10.38 seconds.
 
Freshman pole vaulter Julianna Szczech (Camillus, N.Y./Marcellus) earned five points with her fourth-place finish with a height of 8-feet, 0.5-inch.
 
Also contributing to the team's eighth-place finish were junior Mollie Engle (Roscoe, N.Y./Roscoe), freshman Maggie Casey (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) and Baker.

The Dolphins will split their squads next Saturday with part of the team going to Cornell's Upstate Challenge and the remainder of the team going to the College at Brockport's Golden Eagle Invite.
