LE MOYNE PARTNERS WITH NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE ON #EMBRACEYOURVOTE CAMPAIGN

9/29/2020 2:34:00 PM

Syracuse, N.Y. - In alignment with the department's 'Inside The L' "Be The Change" initiatives and the Northeast-10 Conference's campaign to promote civic engagement through education and voting, the Le Moyne College Athletics Department will provide resources and opportunities for student-athletes and staff in advance of this year's general election.

The Le Moyne Athletic Department, along with all NE10 member institutions, will pause all athletically related activities on November 3rd so all student-athletes and department staff members are encouraged and have an avenue to exercise one's right to vote.

Over the course of the Conference's #EMBRACEyourVOTE campaign, the NE10 and its member institutions will provide a series of conference-wide initiatives to increase voter registration and Election Day turnout, while educating athletic department members on the importance of always being active participants in the electoral process.

"The NE10 is proud to join the growing effort around education, registration and participation in the foundational aspect of our democracy: voting," said Julie Ruppert, NE10 Commissioner.

In addition to collaborating with member institutions from around the league, the department will work with organizations on campus to provide important deadlines and information to the student body at large.

Le Moyne student-athletes will be encouraged to assist the College's Student Government Association in voter registration initiatives. There will be two voter registration drives on campus this week, Wednesday, Sept. 30 and Thursday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, outside the LaCasse Dining Center on the first floor of the Campus Center.

The NE10 will provide tools and educational resources developed by nonpartisan organizations to answer questions on candidates, ballots and polls. Vote.org will be the primary resource for all voting-related information, while ballotpedia.org provides non-partisan information on candidates. Additional voting information resources include www.usa.gov/register-to-vote, www.vote.gov, www.rockthevote.com, and www.bestcolleges.com/resources/student-voting-guide/.
