WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY PLACES FIFTH, MEN SIXTH AT SIENA COLLEGE INVITATIONAL

Colonie, N.Y. – Senior Samantha Pellegrini (Loudonville, N.Y./Colonie) placed 31st to lead the Le Moyne College women's cross country team to a fifth-place finish at the Siena College Invitational on Saturday morning at The Crossings at Colonie. Redshirt freshman Matt Bartolotta (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) placed 14th to lead the men's team to a sixth-place finish.

On the women's side, the Dolphins tallied 162 points to place fifth. Siena captured the team title with 34 after having three of the top five finishers. Marist placed second with 38 points after having four of the top eight scorers. UAlbany recorded 71 points to finish third. Siena's Olivia Lomascolo won the race by over 23 seconds with a time of 18:22.6.

Pellegrini navigated the five-kilometer course in 20:11.7 to place 31st in her final collegiate race back in the Capital District and was the top non-Division I runner. Redshirt freshman Sophia Bisognano (Albany, N.Y./Colonie) posted a time of 20:38.0 to place 39th, while junior Camryn Cortez (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) turned in a time of 21:21.4 to finish 54th. Freshman Hilda Kiprono placed 61st in 21:43.3 and freshman McKayla Capeling (Bridgeport, N.Y./Chittenango) rounded out Le Moyne's scorers in 69th place with a time of 22:35.6.

On the men's side, the Dolphins registered 150 points to finish sixth. The host Saints recorded 17 points after having five of the top six finishers to win the team title. Marist was second with 63 points, while UAlbany placed third with 74 points. Siena's Brandon Olden covered the course in 25:28.4 to place first by over 20 seconds.

Bartolotta, who won Le Moyne's invitational last Saturday, completed the eight-kilometer course in 26:42.3 to cross the finish line 14th. Classmate Nick Berg (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) recorded a time of 28:13.9 to place 41st. Junior Max Serling (Rochester, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) finished 67th in 29:48.3, while freshman Jack Gibson (Ilion, N.Y./Central Valley Academy) was next in 29:51.9. Junior Matthew Sinnenberg (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) rounded out the team's scorers with a time of 30:04.9 to place 70th.

Following a week off, the Dolphins are back in action at Roberts Wesleyan College's Harry F. Anderson Invitational on Saturday, September 25 at 10:00 a.m. at the Matt St. James Cross Country Trails. The NCAA East Regional will be held on the trails in November.
