Bethlehem, Pa. – The Le Moyne College men's and women's cross country teams competed in the 49th annual Lehigh Paul Short Run on Saturday afternoon at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course. The Dolphins, who competed in the "Brown" race, placed 41st on the women's side and 42nd on the men's side.
NYU won the women's race with 69 points after having five of the top 35 scorers, including two of the top four. Duquesne University finished in second place with 161 points and Lynchburg University was third with 173 points. VCU's Lauren Tunnell placed first individually in 21:11.0.
Redshirt junior
Sophia Bisognano (Albany, N.Y./Colonie) led the Dolphins by placing 103rd after navigating the six-kilometer course in 23:24.3. Junior
Anita Jepchirchir (Eldoret, Kenya/The Kenya High School) turned in a time of 23:56.4 to place 163rd. Freshman
Mackenzie Ples (Lowville, N.Y./Lowville) was the third Dolphin to finish by posting a time of 25:53.2 to place 296th. Sophomore
Alexandra Jacob (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) placed 338th in 28:04.7, while freshman
Amanda Lowenguth (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) wrapped up Le Moyne's scorers by placing 343rd in 29:34.3.
Central Connecticut State University finished first in the men's race with 94 points after having five of the top 36 scorers, including two in the top seven. Shippensburg University placed second with 163 points, while George Washington University was just two points back in third place. Columbia's Jacob Ireland finished first individually in 24:36.8.
Freshman
Tyler Cooper (Sloatsburg, N.Y./Suffern) led the men's team by placing 182nd after completing the eight-kilometer course in 26:57.7. Redshirt junior
Matt Bartolotta (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) tallied a time of 27:38.8 to place 248th. Le Moyne's final three scorers were separated by just seven spots. Freshman
Michael Purvis (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) finished 338th in 28:36.7, redshirt junior
Nick Berg (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) was 343rd in 28:43.5 and junior
Jack Gibson (Ilion, N.Y./Central Valley Academy) placed 345th in 28:44.7.
The Dolphins are back in action on Saturday, October 14 at the Canisius University Alumni Classic at Delaware Park in Buffalo.
