Matt Bartolotta (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) finished in first place to lead the Le Moyne College men's cross country team to a second-place finish at the Red Flash Rally on Sunday afternoon at B & D Acres. Redshirt junior
Sophia Bisognano (Albany, N.Y./Colonie) placed second to lead the women's team to a second-place finish.
Duquesne University won the men's team competition with 34 points after having five of the top 12 finishers. The Dolphins recorded five of the top 13 scorers to place second with 39 points. Robert Morris University had 50 points to place third.
Bartolotta completed the six-kilometer course in 20:18.9 to place first by over four seconds to close out the year. Freshman
Tyler Cooper (Sloatsburg, N.Y./Suffern) recorded a time of 20:55.6 to place sixth. Freshman
Mike Purvis (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) and junior
Jack Gibson (Ilion, N.Y./Central Valley Academy) placed 10th and 11th, respectively, with times of 21:11.80 and 21:23.6. Redshirt junior
Alex Colonno (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem) rounded out the team's scorers with a time of 22:05.0 to place 15th.
Duquesne claimed the women's team competition with 30 points after having four of the top eight finishers. The Dolphins placed second with 46 points after having three of the first seven finishers. The host Red Flash placed third with 49 points.
Bisognano registered a mark of 15:48.3 over the four-kilometer course to place second in her final race of the year. Junior
Anita Jepchirchir (Eldoret, Kenya/The Kenya High School) finished in third place in 16:01.6. Freshman
Mackenzie Ples (Lowville, N.Y./Lowville) tallied a time of 16:48.7 to finish in seventh place. Sophomore
Alexandra Jacob (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) placed 19th in 18:14.2, while freshman
Angelina Rodriguez (Greenfield Center, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) was 23rd in 19:58.4.
