MEN’S AND WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD TEAMS OPEN 2022 AT SOUTHERN TIER INVITE

Ithaca, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's and women's indoor track and field teams opened the 2022 portion of their schedules on Saturday at Cornell University's Southern Tier Invitational at Barton Hall.

"I was excited to see our team back in action," said head coach Robin Wheeless. "Seeing where we are now makes me think that some people will have an outstanding season. We have a lot of work to do but we've only been on campus a few days. I'm sure that we will continue to see improvement in the coming weeks and months."
 
Junior Amanda Winn (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) won the 1000-meter run with a time of 3:38.90.
 
Redshirt junior Mallory DiFelice (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) registered a third-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.25 seconds. She also placed sixth in the 400-meter dash in 1:13.22.

Junior Shaina Smith (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) tallied a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 28.81 seconds. She recorded a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles in 11.19 seconds.

Redshirt freshman Madison Kozyra (Marcy, N.Y./Whitesboro) placed third in the shot put with a distance of 39-feet, 0.50-inches. She also placed eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 40-feet, 8.75-inches.

Junior Cayla Hungerford (Petersburgh, N.Y./New Lebanon) placed third in the 1000-meter run in 3:42.81.

Junior Cleo Baker (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) posted a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 1:05.72.

Freshman Brianna Simon (Douglasville, Ga./New Manchester) recorded a fifth-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 29.71 seconds. She placed seventh in the 60-meter dash in 8.70 seconds.

Senior Samantha Pellegrini (Loudonville, N.Y./Colonie) registered a fifth-place finish in the 3000-meter run in 11:42.87.

Redshirt freshman Camryn Cortez (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) finished sixth in the 3000-meter run in 11:51.90.

Freshman Delaney Manahan (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) placed seventh in the 400-meter dash in 1:13.27.

Freshman Hilda Kiprono (Eldoret, Kenya/Kapsabet Girls High School) posted a seventh-place finish in the 3000-meter run in 12:05.24.

The quartet of Baker, Manahan, Pellegrini and Smith placed second in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:45.51.

On the men's side, the Dolphins registered the top three finishers in the 1000-meter run. Senior Kenny Barrett (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Lady of Lourdes) recorded a time of 2:43.14 to cross the finish line first. Junior Christian Carlin-Saracene (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) placed second in 2:43.51 and freshman Evan Breitbeck (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) was third in 2:47.83.
 
Freshman Brandon Scott (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) registered a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 54.23 seconds.

Junior Nicholas Hafner (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) finished third in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.16 seconds. He placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 19-feet, 1.5-inches.
 
Freshman Dominic Abbott (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) placed fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.34 seconds. He finished fifth in the 200-meter dash in 24.13 seconds.
 
Senior Kyle VanCoughnett (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) posted a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 56.28 seconds.

Senior David Ware (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/St. John Fisher) finished fifth in the 400-meter dash in 56.82 seconds.

Senior Alex Sandway (Greene, N.Y./Greene) placed sixth in the weight throw with a distance of 29-feet, 5.25-inches.

The team of Carlin-Saracene, Breitbeck, Hafner and Barrett placed second in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:43.02.

The Dolphins are back in action on Saturday at Utica College's Winter Opener.
