Clinton, N.Y. – Le Moyne College women's and men's cross country teams traveled to Hamilton College today to compete in the Hamilton Tune-Up with both teams placing fourth overall. Redshirt sophomore
Matt Bartolotta (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) placed 15th to lead the men to their fourth-place finish. Sophomore
Anita Jepchirchir (Eldoret, Kenya) finished 17th to guide the women's team to finish in fourth place.
"It was great having everyone running on the men's side today," said head coach
Robin Wheeless. "Matt Sinnenberg was our fifth man in his first race of the season. Unfortunately, we were missing a couple of our women. We've got two weeks now to pull it together for the conference championship"
Hamilton won the men's five-kilometer course with 15 points, following in second place was SUNY Delhi with 74 points, in third place was SUNY-ESF with 75 points, following in fourth place was Le Moyne with 114 points.
For the men, Bartolotta finished 15th overall with a time of 16:30.8, followed by redshirt sophomore
Nick Berg (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa), who placed 21st with a time of 16:50.1 and was followed directly by sophomore
Jack Gibson (Ilion, N.Y./Central Valley Academy) with a time of 16:50.1. Sophomore
Jeremy Plumley (Camden, N.Y./Camden) placed 31st with a time of 17:16.1. Senior
Matthew Sinnenberg (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) placed 37th with a time of 17:29.7 in his season debut.
For the women, Hamilton took the win for the four-kilometer course with 25 points. SUNY-ESF placed second with 65 points, SUNY Delhi placed third with 109 points and Le Moyne finished in fourth place with 114 points.
Jepchirchir led the team finishing in 17th with a time of 15:52.1. Following close behind her was sophomore
Sophia Bisognano (Albany, N.Y./Colonie), who finished 19th with a time of 16:06.1. Senior
Maggie Casey (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) finished 21st with a time of 16:19.8 and sophomore
Hilda Kiprono (Eldoret, Kenya/Kapsabet Girls High School) placed 24th with a time of 16:31.0. Senior
Cayla Hungerford (Petersburgh, N.Y,/New Lebanon) finished 61st with a time of 18:30.6
The Dolphins will be traveling to Colchester, Vermont and Saint Michael's College to compete in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships on Sunday, November 6
th with a start time of 11AM.
