WOMEN FINISH SEVENTH, MEN 11TH AT NE10 CONFERENCE CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP

Colchester, Vt. – The Le Moyne College men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Saint Michael's College today to compete in the NE-10 Conference Championship.

Redshirt sophomore Sophia Bisognano (Albany, N.Y./Colonie) finished 24th overall to lead the women's team to a seventh-place finish. Redshirt sophomore Nick Berg (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) finished 51st overall to lead the men's team to an 11th-place finish.

Southern Connecticut State University won the men's championship for the second time with 43 points. Franklin Pierce University finished second with 60 points, while two-time defending champion American International College was third with 65 points. The Dolphins totaled 280 points to finish 11th. Southern Connecticut's Jonathan Volpe won the individual championship with a time of 24:39.3, snapping a streak of 12 consecutive champions from American International.
 
Berg, who made his second appearance at the Championship, finished 51st with a time of 28:08.9 over the eight-kilometer course. Classmate Jeremy Plumley (Camden, N.Y./Camden) finished 52nd with a time of 28:09.7, an improvement of 10 spots and 37 seconds from last year. Redshirt sophomore Matt Bartolotta (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) placed 60th with a time of 28:22.8 in his second appearance at the Championship. Sophomore Jack Gibson (Ilion, N.Y./Central Valley Academy) finished 62nd with a time of 28:24.3, improvements of 30 places and 80 seconds from a year ago. Senior Matthew Sinnenberg (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) placed 78th with a time of 28:46.0, his best time in three appearances at the Championship.
 
For the Women, Southern New Hampshire University took the win for the first time in the program's history with 39 points. Adelphi recorded 82 points to earn its first top-two finish since 2012. Saint Anselm placed third with 104 points. Le Moyne finished seventh with 190 points for its best finish at the Championship since 2018. Ashley Corcoran from Southern New Hampshire won the individual championship in 21:26.7.
 
Bisognano led the Dolphins by finishing the six-kilometer course 24th with a time of 24:04.2, improvements of 24 places and 82 seconds from her first Championship a year ago. Sophomore Anita Jepchirchir (Eldoret, Kenya) followed placing 31st with a time of 24:33.4 in her NE10 debut. Classmate Hilda Kiprono (Eldoret, Kenya/Kapsabet Girls High School) placed 35th with a time of 24:45.8, four spots and 23 seconds better than last year. Senior Maggie Casey (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) finished 46th with a time of 25:32.9 in her first NE10 appearance since 2019. Freshman Emma Gepfert () rounded out the team's scorers with a time of 26:50.7 to place 67th.
 
The Dolphins will be traveling to Bethpage State Park to compete in the NCAA Regionals on Saturday, November 19 with a start time of 12:00 PM.
