2/4/2022 1:55:00 PM

Syracuse, N.Y. – The 2022 Le Moyne College softball team is slated to open its season on Saturday, February 19, as the team's schedule was released on Friday afternoon.

The 48-game schedule will feature 14 home games, 22 road contests and 12 neutral-site matchups, including 26 games against Northeast-10 Conference foes and 22 against non-conference opponents. For the third straight year, the NE10 is scheduled for round-robin competition among its 14 teams for the first time since the 2012 season. The first two attempts were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We have assembled an extremely challenging line-up of non-conference opponents early in the season to help prepare us for play within a very tough NE10 conference," said head coach Tracey Roman. "Our tough strength of schedule is challenging and necessary to achieve and maintain the level of play required for success in the NE10 and on a national level."

The Dolphins begin the season on Saturday, February 19 in Anderson, South Carolina with a doubleheader at Anderson University. The following day, the Dolphins take on Catawba College in a doubleheader in Salisbury, North Carolina. The team wraps up its opening weekend on Monday the 21st with a doubleheader at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C.

The Dolphins then head to Winter Haven, Florida for 12 games over eight days at THE Spring Games in the middle of the March. They open their time at the Games on Saturday the 12th against East Region foes Caldwell University and Saint Thomas Aquinas College. The next day, they take on regional opponent Felician University as well as Slippery Rock University. Following an off day, the Dolphins face Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the University of Indianapolis. On Wednesday the 16th, the Dolphins play a doubleheader against regional foe Molloy College. After another off day, the team takes on Dominican College in a regional doubleheader. The Dolphins complete their time at THE Spring Games on Saturday the 19th against Shepherd University and Wayne State University.

The Dolphins open NE10 action the final weekend of March. They visit Bentley University for a doubleheader for the first time since 2018 on Saturday the 26th and then head to Stonehill College the next day.

The Dolphins close out March and open their home slate on Wednesday the 30th with a non-conference doubleheader against Gannon University.

The Dolphins kick off April with home doubleheaders against two of the top teams in the NE10. Saint Anselm College, which has won the last two NE10 titles, comes to the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex on Saturday the 2nd and Southern New Hampshire University follows the next day.

The 'Phins are on the road for their next four doubleheaders. They wrap up their non-conference schedule on April 5 at perennial PSAC power Lock Haven University. The Dolphins then head to Connecticut to take on Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday the 9th and the University of New Haven on Sunday the 10th. They conclude the road swing on Tuesday the 12th at The College of Saint Rose.

The team is back home for a pair of doubleheaders Easter weekend. They host Assumption University on Good Friday, April 15, and American International College comes to town on Saturday the 16th.

The following weekend, the Dolphins finish up their regular season road doubleheaders by taking on Saint Michael's College on Saturday the 23rd and Franklin Pierce University on Sunday the 24th.

The Dolphins close out the regular season at home against their two opponents from the NE10 Championships last year. They host Adelphi University, the preseason favorite in the conference, on Friday the 29th and then home Pace University, which they defeated in the NE10 first round last year, on Saturday the 30th.

The Northeast-10 Conference Championship returns to an eight-team field. The first round featuring the fifth through eighth seeds is scheduled for May 3 and will be hosted by the higher seeded squad. The top seed will host the final five games of the championship, May 5 through 7.
