Greensburg, P.A. – The Le Moyne College baseball team dropped both games of their Friday afternoon doubleheader at #22/24 Seton Hill University. Kevin Vaupel threw a complete-game 7.0 inning shutout for the Griffins in game one to lead them to a 2-0 victory. Le Moyne jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the 3
rd inning of game number two, but the Griffins clawed back and took the second game by a score of 9-6.
Graduate right fielder
Michael Smith (Montebello, N.Y./Suffern) launched his first homerun of the season in game number two and finished the contest with a career-high four RBIs.
Sophomore left-handed starting pitcher
Max Parker (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) allowed just two runs in 6.0 innings of work in game one during which he struck out five batters and gave up one walk.
The Griffins scored a run in the 3
rd inning and the 6
th inning.
Le Moyne loaded the bases in the top of the 3
rd, but Vaupel recorded back-to-back strikeouts to get out of the inning and maintain the shutout.

Derrick Miller (Westernville, N.Y./Rome Free Academy/Hudson Valley C.C.) each recorded one hit during game one.
Le Moyne scored three runs during the top of the 1
st in game two via a
Drew Carroll (Clifton Park, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy (Albany)) walk, followed by a Nevins RBI triple, and RBI singles from
Ty Syta (Hamburg, N.Y./St. Francis) and Smith.
Jason Boule (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) hit a leadoff single in the top of the 3
rd, then Smith hit a two-run homer over the right field wall to put the 'Phins up 5-1.
Seton Hill tied the game in the bottom of the 4
th, then took an 8-5 lead during the bottom of the 5
th and tacked on another run in the 6th.
Nevins, Syta, and Boule each singled in the top of the 9
th to load the bases, then Smith drew a walk for his fourth RBI of the game.
Seton Hill got a ground ball double play to end the game.
The Dolphins and the Chargers will battle again tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. for their final game of the weekend.
