BASEBALL DROPS FINAL GAME OF WEEKEND SERIES AT #22 SETON HILL

Greensburg, P.A. – The Le Moyne College baseball team dropped their Saturday afternoon matchup against #22 Seton Hill University by a score of 8-2.

Graduate left-hander Joe Vail (Cromwell, Conn./Xavier) started the game on the mound for the 'Phins and completed 3.0 innings of work during which he allowed two earned runs, one walk and struck out five batters.

Junior right-hander Jacob Marshall (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) pitched 4.0 innings in relief, and senior right-hander Jacob Maser pitched the final inning of the game for the 'Phins.
Senior first baseman Ty Syta (Hamburg, N.Y./St. Francis) recorded a team-high two hits during the loss, while Jason Boule (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy (Syracuse) and Michael Smith (Montebello, N.Y./Suffern) each provided a hit and an RBI.

Le Moyne went down 1-2-3 in the top of the 1st, then Sabol hit a leadoff homerun in the bottom of the inning for the Griffins. Seton Hill got two more runs in the bottom of the 2nd and hit another solo homerun in the 3rd to take a 4-0 lead.

Senior shortstop Nick Nevins (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) and Syta hit back-to-back one out singles in the top of the 4th, then Smith hit an RBI single to right field to trim Le Moyne's deficit.

Seton Hill added to more runs in the bottom of the 5th to go up 6-1.

Boule ripped an RBI single in the top of the 6th, but Seton Hill got two more runs in the bottom of the 8th to make it 8-2, which is how the game would end.

The Le Moyne College baseball team will begin a four-game weekend series against Saint Michael's College with a doubleheader against the Purple Knights on Saturday March 26 at Onondaga Community College.
