Garden City, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College baseball team dropped both games of their Saturday afternoon doubleheader against the Adelphi University Panthers. The two sides will complete their four-game weekend series with another doubleheader tomorrow.
The Panther took game one by a score of 11-3, then Adelphi claimed a tight 4-3 win over the Dolphins during the second half of the doubleheader.
Max Parker (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) started game one on the mound for Le Moyne and completed 5.0 innings of work.
Kennen Smith (Poughquag, N.Y./Arlington) pitched 2.0 innings in relief, and
John Geer (Syracuse, N.Y.Westhill) pitched a scoreless 8
th inning for Le Moyne.
Zach Brush (New York Mills, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame) drew an RBI walk in the top of the 2
nd to put Le Moyne up 1-0, then Adelphi took a 7-1 lead after five innings.
Le Moyne got a run back in the top of the 6
th off a Brush RBI single, then Adelphi added a run in the bottom of the inning and three more in the 7
th to open up an 11-2 lead.
Wyatt Patchett (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) hit an RBI double in the top of the 9
th to give the Dolphins their third and final run of the contest.
Jacob Marshall (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) started game two on the mound for Le Moyne, and the Panther scored two runs in the first two inning to take a 2-0 lead during the seven-inning contest.
Michael Smith (Montebello, N.Y./Suffern) hit a two-run homerun for Le Moyne in the top of the 4
th to tie the game.
Adelphi scored two runs in the bottom of the 4
th to take a 4-2 lead.
Derrick Miller (Westernville, N.Y./Rome Free Academy/Hudson Valley C.C.) hit drove in
Jason Boule (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy (Syracuse)) with a base hit up the middle in the top of the 7
th to cut the lead to 4-3, but Le Moyne could not get the final run, and fell to the Panthers in game two.
First pitch for game one of tomorrow's doubleheader is at 12:00 p.m.
