Syracuse, N.Y. – Senior defenseman
Ryan Albert (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) of the men's lacrosse team has been named the Le Moyne College Athlete of the Week, presented by CADimensions, Inc., as announced by the department on Monday evening.
Albert receives the honor after registering three ground balls and one caused turnover as the Dolphins held two high-powered offenses to single digits in a 2-0 week. In a 16-8 victory over sixth-seeded Saint Anselm College on Wednesday in the first round of the NCAA Championships, Albert posted one caused turnover and one ground ball as the Dolphins held the Hawks to just two goals in the second half. He then scooped up a pair of ground balls and held Adelphi's Joseph Duchnowski, who averaged a team-high 2.7 goals per game entering the contest, without a goal in Le Moyne's 9-4 victory over the Panthers in the NCAA Championships quarterfinals on Sunday.
For the season, Albert has 17 ground balls and six caused turnovers as a starter on the backline in all 19 games.
Le Moyne (16-3) is back in action on Sunday in the NCAA semifinals against top-seeded Mercy College on the campus of Purchase College at 1:00 p.m.
