LE MOYNE STUDENT-ATHLETES EXCEL IN CLASSROOM

Syracuse, N.Y. -- With seven teams earning berths in the NCAA Championships this past academic year, Le Moyne College's intercollegiate athletic teams enjoyed an outstanding year on the playing fields. However, Dolphin Student-Athletes didn't limit their success to their Athletic venues.

Continuing a long-standing pattern of high academic achievement, Le Moyne Student-Athletes flourished in the classrooms as well this past year.

Le Moyne's 342 Student-Athletes recorded a term grade-point average of 3.306 this spring, marking the 38th consecutive semester (a two-decade span) that Le Moyne Student-Athletes have maintained an overall grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

The department had 256 Student-Athletes record at least a 3.0 GPA for the semester. In all, 251 Student-Athletes boast a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and 143 sport a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.

Additionally, 19 of the department's 21 programs combined for at least a 3.0 GPA in the spring.

"We are extremely proud of our Student-Athletes' performance in all facets of their lives," said Director of Athletics Bob Beretta. "At Le Moyne College, we espouse to develop the whole person, that's part of our mission here on the Heights. Clearly, our Dolphin Student-Athletes have committed to comprehensive excellence.

"Our Dolphins are true scholar-athletes in every sense and continue to represent Le Moyne College with great character and dignity in their competitive arenas and in the classroom. Our graduates are uniquely prepared to make significant impacts on all sectors of society. They truly go out and set the world on fire. This year's senior class will be no different."
