Syracuse, N.Y. – Freshman Paula Casares (A Coruna, Spain/Colegio Maristas Cristo Rey) of the women's tennis team has been named the Le Moyne College Athlete of the Week, presented by King + King Architects, as announced by the department on Monday evening.

Casares earns the honor after she went 5-1, including 3-0 in singles action, in Le Moyne's 1-2 week. She was a 7-5, 6-1 winner at fourth singles in a 5-2 setback at Division I Colgate on Wednesday. She then was a 6-1, 6-1 winner in singles and teamed with classmate Alicia Alvarez (Madrid, Spain/IES Ortega y Gasset) for a 6-2 win at third doubles in a 7-0 victory at Bentley on Saturday. She won by opponent retirement in singles and teamed with Alvarez for 6-4 win in doubles in a 5-2 setback at Southern New Hampshire on Sunday.

Le Moyne (2-2, 1-1 NE10) is back in action on Tuesday for its first home NE10 match of the year against Saint Michael's College at 12:00 p.m. at Elevate Fitness in DeWitt.
