DeWitt, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis dropped only six games en route to cruising to a 7-0 victory over Saint Michael's College on Tuesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Elevate Fitness.
The Dolphins did not drop a game in sweeping the doubles competition. Freshman
Stella Simeonova (Sofia, Bulgaria/National Gymnasium of Mathematics and Natural Sciences) and junior
Fiona Pepper (Challapampa, Peru/Colegio Anglo Americano Prescott) blanked Ava Albis and Bree Cotroneo, 6-0, at the first position. Freshmen
Alicia Alvarez (Madrid, Spain/IES Ortega y Gasset) and
Paula Casares (A Coruna, Spain/Colegio Maristas Cristo Rey) swept Natalle Meiler and Emma Posada at the second spot, 6-0. Senior
Francesca Lilliegren (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Colegio Alemán Humboldt Guayaquil) and sophomore
Brooke Tutor (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) registered a 6-0 win at the third position over Molly Gannon and Emma J. Tagliaferro.
Le Moyne swept the singles competition for the second time this season. Simeonova improved to 2-1 in conference action with a 6-0, 6-2 win at the top spot over Albis. Alvarez remained unbeaten in NE10 play with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Cotroneo at the second position. Casares pushed her record to 5-0 by blanking Meiler at the third spot, while Lilliegren did not drop a game to Posada at the fourth position. Pepper moved to 4-1 on the year with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the fifth spot over Liberty Jackson. Tutor picked up her first NE10 win by downing Gannon at the sixth position, 6-2, 6-0.
Le Moyne (3-2, 2-1 NE10) is back in action at the ITA East Regional September 22-25 in Flushing, N.Y.
