Hudson, N.H. – Sophomore
Mia Avotins (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) tied for seventh place to lead the Le Moyne College women's golf team to a sixth-place finish at the Franklin Pierce University Fall Invitational on Sunday and Monday at the par-70, 5632-yard Green Meadow Golf Club.
The host Ravens won the team competition with a combined score of 598 after rounds of 294 and 304. Stonehill College placed second at 619 off scores of 302 and 317, while Adelphi University was third with a 644 after posting a 320 and a 324. The Dolphins finished the 36 holes with a 671 following rounds of 329 and 342. Franklin Pierce's Phisonlaya Ruayruen claimed medalist honors with a four-over par 144 off rounds of 71 and 73.
Avotins tied for seventh with a 151, the fourth-best round in the program's history. She opened the event with a career best-tying 76 to land in a three-way tie for ninth. On Monday, she was one better with a new career-best 75 to move up in the standings.
Freshman
Thais Forbes (Atlanta, Ga./Coral Gables (Fla.)) placed 12th in the field of 56 with a career-best 157. She registered a career-high 76 on Sunday to land in the three-way tie for ninth. She followed with an 81, the second-best round of her career, on the second day.
Freshman
Riley Stuver (Webster, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) finished in a three-way tie for 25th place with a career-best 168. She opened with a career-high 81 to tie for 18th place and then carded an 87 in the second round.
In her first collegiate event, freshman
Emily Barnes (Central Square, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) tied for 47th with a 195 off rounds of 96 and 99.
Senior
Elyse Maniccia (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego), playing individually, placed 43rd with a career-best 186 after carding rounds of a career-best 90 and a 96.
The Dolphins are back on the links on Sunday and Monday at the Kutztown University Fall Invitational at Moselem Springs Golf Club in Fleetwood, Pa.
