WOMEN’S GOLF OPENS YEAR BY PLACING 15TH AT BUCKNELL FALL INVITATIONAL

Lewisburg, Pa. – The Le Moyne College women's golf team opened the year by placing 15th at the Bucknell Fall Invitational Friday through Sunday at the par-70, 5939 yard Bucknell Golf Club.
 
The host Bison cruised to a first-place team finish with a 54-hole total of 885 off rounds of 297, 293 and 295. Merrimack finished in second place at 918 after scores of 303, 310 and 305. Purdue Fort Wayne landed in third place with a total of 921 after back-to-back 304s and a 313. The Dolphins registered rounds of 333, 324 and 329 to finish in 15th place at 986. Bucknell's Joelle Johnson and Katherine Vice tied for first at 220. Johnson had rounds of 73, 72 and 75, while Vice posted scores of 72, 77 and 71.

Junior Gianna Cafarella (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory School) finished in a six-way tie for 42nd place with a career-best 238, which included four birdies and 21 pars. She was in an 11-way tie for 41st place after an 80 in the first round, which featured one birdie and seven pars. She slipped into a five-way tie for 49th place on day two after turning in a 78, which featured three birdies and five pars. She recorded another 80, featuring nine pars, in the final round to move up seven spots.

Freshman Caroline McShea (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) landed in a four-way tie for 59th place with a 243, which featured three birdies and 21 pars. She registered an 83 in her collegiate debut, which included one birdie and five pars, to land in a six-way for 63rd place. She followed with a 78, which included one birdie and 10 pars, to move up two spots into a tie for 61st place. She climbed two more spots on Sunday with an 82, which featured one birdie and six pars.

Senior Riley Stuver (Webster, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) was part of a five-way tie for 79th place with a total of 253, which included one birdie and 21 pars. She opened the invitational with an 85, featuring eight pars, to land in an eight-way tie for 74th place. She was part of a four-way tie for 78th place after registering an 83 on day two, which included one birdie and five pars. She dipped one place on Sunday with another 85, which featured eight pars.

Sophomore Lauren Williams (San Francisco, Calif./University HS) was also part of the five-way tie for 79th at 253, which included 19 pars. She joined Stuver in the tie for 74th place after a first-round 85, which featured five pars. She dipped into a six-way tie for 83rd place on Saturday after posting an 86, which included five more pars. She moved up four spots in the final round with an 82, which featured nine pars.

Sophomore Olivia Dahn (Bristol, Conn./St. Paul Catholic) finished in a three-way tie for 94th place with a 261, which featured one birdie and 16 pars. She was in a five-way tie for 93rd place after a first-round 90, which included four pars. She moved into a tie for 92nd place following an 85 in the second round, which included one birdie and six pars. She slipped to 94th with an 86 on the last day, which featured six pars.

The Dolphins are back on the links on Monday, September 15 at the Battle at the Creek hosted by Mount St. Mary's at Kings Creek Country Club in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
