Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's basketball team (10-4, 5-3 NE10) will host the Pace University Setters (6-7, 3-4 NE10) on Saturday, January 7 for a Northeast-10 Conference battle on Ted Grant Court. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
Both teams are currently on a five-game winning streak, with both squads coming off back-to-back conference victories.
After starting the 2022-23 campaign with a 1-7 record, the Setters have ripped off five straight wins, and most recently they claimed a 70-54 W at Adelphi a few days after taking down Saint Rose at home by a score of 55-45.
The Dolphins lost two straight conference battles in the first half of December before going on a five-game win streak that includes double-digit NE10 victories over New Haven and Saint Michael's.
The 'Phins have three players that are currently top 10 in the conference in both steals and assists: senior guard
Lytoya Baker (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney), freshman guard
Kaia Goode (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) and redshirt-freshman guard
Sydney Lusher (Oneida, N.Y./Oneida).
Lusher's 30 assists during Le Moyne's eight NE10 games this season is the highest total in the league, while Baker is tied for fifth in conference assists with 25, and Goode is right behind her with 24 assists through eight conference contests.
Goode leads all players in the conference with 22 steals in NE10 play, while Baker is third in the league with 17, and Lusher is tied for fourth with 15.
The three players are recording a combined 6.8 steals per game in conference play so far. To put that in perspective, there are currently five TEAMS in the NE10 that are averaging less than 6.5 steals per NE10 contest.
Baker is currently the only player in the league averaging a double-double against NE10 competition, as well as the only player averaging at least 10.0 rebounds per game in conference play. Through eight conference battles this season, the senior guard is averaging 13.1 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.1 steals per game.
In total, Baker has pulled down 101 boards against NE10 teams, which is the highest total in the league by 25. She tallied 13 points and 14 rebounds (her season-high rebound total is 15) on Wednesday against Saint Michael's, which marked her NE10-best ninth double-double of the campaign.
Lusher, who is averaging 12.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.8 blocks during her first collegiate campaign, tallied eight points, five assists, three rebounds, two blocks and two steals during Le Moyne's most recent win against the Purple Knights, which marked the seventh time this season that the rookie has contributed at least five assists during a single game.
Redshirt-sophomore forward
Haedyn Roberts (Holland Patent, N.Y./Holland Patent) is currently second in the conference in both shooting percentage and free throw percentage during NE10 games.
Roberts, who is averaging 12.5 points and 8.1 rebounds in conference, is shooting 52.8% from the field, as well as 92.3% from the line (while taking 3.2 free throws per game on average) during Le Moyne's eight conference games so far this season.
First-year guard
Sierra Linnin (Valley Cottage, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) delivered a season-high 15 points for Le Moyne during the Saint Michael's win, and the rookie is seventh among all NE10 players with 1.9 made three-point field goals per conference game this season.
Sophomore guard
Emily Florvil (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth), who is averaging 11.0 minutes off the bench for the 'Phins, is fourth on the team in steals with 17 total, including 11 during conference contests.
During Le Moyne's victory over the Purple Knights on Wednesday, Florvil tallied seven points (on 50% shooting), three rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block in 16 minutes of action.
Senior guard
Lexi Gruss (Binghamton, N.Y./Binghamton) has recorded six steals during NE10 play, and is contributing 1.3 assists per conference contest.
For the Setters, graduate guard Lauren Hackett is averaging team-highs in points, assists and steals with 9.6 points, 3.7 assists and 1.9 steals per game. Pace sophomore forward Arianna Stockinger leads the team in rebounding with 5.7 boards per game to go along with 8.2 points, 1.0 steals and 1.1 blocks. Stockinger also has the ability to space the floor, as she shot 4-5 from beyond the three-point line during her team's win at Adelphi.
As a team, Pace is last in the NE10 in field goal percentage as well as three-point shooting percentage. The Setters are converting 33.5 percent of their field goals, including 25.7 percent of their tries from deep. Pace's 51.0 points per game average is 12
th in the NE10, while Le Moyne is second among NE10 programs with 65.9 points per game.
Le Moyne leads the league with 10.8 steals per conference contest, and Le Moyne's 14.5 offensive rebounds per game average against NE10 opponents is second best in the league.
The Setters are second in the NE10 with 3.4 blocks per game, led by Stockinger and her 1.1 blocks per contest.
Although the Setters are 6-7 overall, and 3-4 in the NE10, they have a strong 4-2 record on the road so far this season.
Pace and Le Moyne split their two matchups during the 2021-22 campaign, but the 'Phins have won five of the last six contests between the two women's basketball programs dating back to the 2018-19 season.
The Setters claimed two wins against the Dolphins during the 2017-18 season.
