Lakewood, N.J. – Junior
Mia Avotins (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) tied for seventh place to lead the Le Moyne College women's golf team at the Hawk Invitational hosted by Monmouth University on Saturday and Sunday at the par-72, 5804-yard Eagle Ridge Golf Club.
The University at Albany claimed first place in the team standings with a two-day total of 609 following rounds of 292 and 317. After posting a 403 in the first round, the Dolphins rebounded with a 366 on Sunday to finish in fifth place with a 769. UAlbany's Malene Clausen earned medalist honors with a four-over par 148 after carding rounds of four-under par 68 and an 80.
Avotins finished the 36 holes with a total of 158 to tie for seventh in the 26-player field. She was in 14th place after an 84 in the first round and then tied her career best with a two-over 74, which is tied for the fourth-best round in the program's history, on Sunday to move up seven spots.
Sophomore
Riley Stuver (Webster, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) finished in 24th place with a 201 off rounds of 104 and 97. Freshman
Cambell Kennedy (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa) placed 25th with a 203 after scores of 103 and 100 and sophomore
Emily Barnes (Central Square, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) finished 26th with a 207 after posting a 112 and 95.
The Dolphins return to action next Monday and Tuesday at the Lehigh University Invitational at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
