Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne men's basketball team takes on D-III program SUNY Canton on Monday night at Ted Grant Court in its home opener.

The Kangaroos started their 2023-24 campaign with a 112-66 win over Paul Smith's College on November 8. Since then, SUNY Canton participated in the Mike Daley Memorial Tournament. The Kangaroos lost to York College in the first game before beating Buffalo State in a consolation contest.

SUNY Canton, which went just 6-18 last season, already has two wins this year. The Kangaroos are off to their best start since 2015-16, when the team lost just four total games.

SUNY Canton has four players averaging over nine points so far. The squad is led by senior Terrence Fields, who has put up 14.3 points per game in the young season. The guard tied his career high of 15 points twice this year. In the Kangaroos most recent game against Buffalo State, Fields put up 15 points while knocking down three three-pointers.

Senior Brennan Harmer has been solid as well for Canton. The senior is shooting strong from beyond the arc, hitting six of his 13 attempts. His best game of the season came against York College when he tallied 14 points and four steals.

Kevin Goode Jr., the older brother of Le Moyne women's basketball sophomore guard Kaia Goode, and Jevonte Williams are other impact players for the Kangaroos. Both juniors are averaging 9.7 points this season.

SUNY Canton is hot to start the season on offense. The Kangaroos averaged 88 points in their first three games. The defense hasn't been stellar though, with the squad allowing over 80 points twice this year.

The matchup between the Dolphins and Kangaroos marks Le Moyne's first home game of the season. The Dolphins began their season on the road against Big East powerhouses Georgetown and #22 Villanova.

Le Moyne dropped its season opener, 94-57, to the Hoyas on November 7. Despite the loss,
Kaiyem Cleary was a bright spot in his first game with the Dolphins. The Ball State transfer hit two three-pointers and had seven rebounds in the loss.

Luke Sutherland and guard
Darrick Jones Jr. both produced against Georgetown. They each tallied nine points in the game. Sutherland and Jones Jr. both hit one three-pointer and converted on all their free-throw attempts.

Graduate student
Isaiah Salter shined on the defensive end during the contest against Georgetown too. The guard recorded four steals against the Hoyas.

In the team's second game of the year, Le Moyne faced ranked Villanova. The Dolphins fell 83-57 to the Wildcats in Pennsylvania.

Sutherland led the way for Le Moyne, putting up 15 points and two blocks. The graduate student hit three from beyond the arc during the loss.

Cleary was dominant on the boards yet again for the Dolphins. The guard recorded six rebounds, leading the team. He snagged two steals and a block as well.

Salter was strong from three-point land in the matchup on November 10. The North Carolina native went 4-5 from the field and hit two three-pointers on his way to 10 points.

Le Moyne shot over 46% from deep in the first half against the Wildcats. The Dolphins put up 34 points in the first 20 minutes, the most in a first half this year.

Monday marks Le Moyne's first home game in its new Division I era. The Dolphins continue to creep towards their first game in the Northeast Conference.
