KAIA GOODE NAMED NEC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

12/18/2023 2:09:00 PM

Bridgewater, N.J. – Sophomore guard Kaia Goode (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) has been named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week due to her performance during Le Moyne's 66-61 road win over University at Buffalo on Saturday, while graduate guard Sydney Lusher (Oneida, N.Y./Oneida) was named an NEC Prime Performer for the week.

Goode scored a team-high and personal season-high 17 points with three assists, three rebounds and three steals against the Bulls in 34 minutes played. Goode made a career-high nine free throws during the win on 11 attempts.

Eight of Goode's made free throws came during the fourth quarter as the Dolphins closed out the win and handed the Bulls their first home loss of the season.

Goode also made a massive defensive play to seal the win. With five seconds remaining and the Dolphins holding onto a 64-61 advantage, UB had possession and quickly brought the ball up the right side of the court.

Goode sprinted to the sideline, cut off the ball handler, recorded her third steal of the contest, drew a foul with 0.7 left on the clock and made two free throws to ice the game.

Goode claims the conference's player of the week award for the first time, and was also named a prime performer for the first time.

Goode is the second Le Moyne Player to earn NEC Player of the Week honors in 2023, as fifth-year guard Lytoya Baker (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) earned the weekly award for the first week of the season.

Lusher, who was also named a Prime Performer for the first time this season, produced 16 points, four rebounds, a team-high four assists, one block and one steal on Saturday, marking the fourth time this season that she has scored in double figures for the 'Phins.

Lusher made a season-best three three-point field goals during the win.

The Le Moyne women's basketball team will return to action on Thursday at the University of Rhode Island.
