Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College baseball team (11-11, 0-0 NE10) will compete on Dick Rockwell Field for the first time this season on Sunday against the Franklin Pierce University Ravens (16-4, 4-0 NE10).
The Dolphins and the Ravens will play two non-conference doubleheaders on Sunday and Monday, with the contests being scheduled for 12:00 and 3:00 p.m. on both days.
Le Moyne most recently won both games of a non-conference doubleheader at Saint Anselm on March 24. The Dolphins dug themselves out of an early deficit to beat the Hawks 10-5 in game one, then the 'Phins took an early lead during the second half of the doubleheader and cruised to a 16-5 win, marking the 300
th victory for the Le Moyne baseball program with

Freshman infielder/catcher
Brody Keneston (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) tallied a combined six hits, five runs scored and five RBIs during the doubleheader sweep against the Hawks, while senior right-handed pitcher
Sam DiGeorge (one run allowed in 5.0 innings in relief in game one) and sophomore left-hander
Jacob Crystal (zero hits and zero runs allowed with six strikeouts in 3.1 innings in relief in game two) both earned a win on the mound for the 'Phins.
As a team, the Dolphins launched five home runs during the doubleheader at Saint Anselm, increasing their season total to 16.
Keneston, graduate first baseman
Dewey Roden (Sherrill, N.Y./Vernon-Verona-Sherrill/UMass Lowell), sophomore right fielder
Wyatt Patchett (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) and fifth-year shortstop
Nick Nevins (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) each have three home runs so far this season, while rookie infielder
Adam Sullivan (Syracuse, N.Y./Marcellus) launched his second home run of the season during game two against Saint Anselm on his way to a season-high four RBIs.
Through 22 games in 2023, Roden and Keneston have both provided a team-best 19 RBIs, while Patchett and Nevins are close behind with 16 and 15, respectively. Roden and graduate second baseman
Drew Carroll (Clifton Park, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) have both ripped a team-high six doubles.
Redshirt-sophomore right-hander
Jordan Goldmann (Encinitas, Calif/Canyon Crest Academy/Palomar College/Grossmont College) has started six games on the mound this season for the 'Phins, more than any other player on the pitching staff, and has tallied a team-best 26 strikeouts in a team-high 28.0 innings pitched.
DiGeorge has made five appearances on the mound in 2023. In 16.2 innings pitched he has a team-best 1.62 ERA and a .96 WHIP (walks and hits per inning pitched).
Freshman right-hander
Eric Swiencicki (Lancaster, N.Y./St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute) has made seven relief appearances so far in his rookie campaign with one victory and a team-high two saves.
Crystal, junior right-hander
Kennen Smith (Poughquag, N.Y./Arlington) and graduate righty
Jacob Maser (Chittenango, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy (Syracuse)) have each earned two pitching decision victories so far this season for the 'Phins.
Franklin Pierce will travel to Syracuse with a 16-4 record, including four wins over Saint Michael's during their conference-opening series last weekend.
The Ravens put up a combined 48 runs during their sweep of the Purple Knights to start 4-0 in NE10 play.
This upcoming four-game series between the Dolphins and the Ravens will not count toward either team's conference record.
FPU senior outfielder Joseph Pesce is currently third among NE10 players with a .433 batting average, while infielders Ian Battipaglia and Jose Savinon are both hitting .338 in 68 at bats for the Ravens.
Battipaglia, who plays shortstop for Franklin Pierce and was a 2022 NE10 All-Conference First Team selection, has provided a team-high 10 extra-base hits this season via five doubles and a league-high five triples, and he has already stolen 10 bases. Battipaglia has also drawn a team-high 21 walks and has scored a team-best 25 runs.
FPU's leadoff hitter, senior center fielder Joel Lara is fourth among NE10 players with 13 stolen bases and he has been caught just once.
Junior right-handed pitcher Kyle Roche, also a 2022 NE10 First Team All-Conference honoree for the Ravens, is 5-0 on the mound this season with 36 strikeouts and just four earned runs allowed in 30.2 innings pitched. Fellow junior righty Chaz Powell, who earned Third Team All-Conference recognition last season, is 4-0 on the mound in 2023 for FPU.
Graduate right-hander Brian Hadden has earned one win and a team-high four saves in seven relief appearances so far this season for the Ravens.
Franklin Pierce and Le Moyne previously met in an elimination matchup in the 2022 NCAA Championships East Regional, with the Ravens earning a 11-4 victory over the Dolphins to advance to the regional final where they fell to Molloy College.
The two sides also met in the 2019 NE10 Conference Championships. The Dolphins earned a 16-2 win over the Ravens to open Championship weekend before FPU got revenge the next day with a 12-1 victory that eliminated Le Moyne from the tournament.
