Bridgewater, N.J. – After tallying a career-best three points during the men's soccer team's 4-0 conference win at Chicago State on Thursday, redshirt-freshman forward
Justin Pham (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) has been named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the first time.
Pham provided a goal and his first career assist against Chicago State to help the Dolphins earn three points in the NEC Standings.
With Le Moyne holding onto a 1-0 lead against the Cougars in the 74
th minute, Pham got behind the CSU defense following a long punt from goalkeeper
Wyatt Dupell (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse). He faced up the last Chicago State defender just outside the 18-yard box, then quickly cut to his right and ripped a shot that was deflected by the CSU keeper but carried across the goal line and into the net to double his team's lead.
Two minutes later Pham won a corner kick for the Dolphins. He took the kick himself, sending a right-footed cross to the middle of the penalty area where midfielder
Ziad Abdul-Malak (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) volleyed the ball into the right side of the net to make it 3-0 with just over 15 minutes remaining.
Pham, who scored his first career goal during a 2-2 draw against FDU in Le Moyne's season opener on September 29, was also named an NEC Prime Performer for the second consecutive week, along with Dupell, who earned the recognition for the third time this season.
Dupell recorded his first career assist on Pham's goal, and also recorded four saves against the Cougars to register his third clean sheet of the campaign.
