Cleveland, O.H. – The Le Moyne College men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up a three-day invite at the 12th annual Magnus Cup on Saturday night. The invite, hosted by Cleveland State University, ended with Le Moyne's men's squad placing 6th of 10 with 315 points and the women's team earning 13th of 14 after tallying 31 points.
"The results of the weekend are a culmination of the work we've put in over the past 24 months. Recruiting, training and reinforcing our culture all came together in a great weekend in Cleveland," said head coach Adam Zaczkowski '04. "Men's school records fell day after day. Two long-standing relays with the 200-yard Medley and 800-yard Freestyle were taken down. Our 100 and 200-yard Breaststrokes and 200 Butterfly were shattered. It was a total team effort with all classes getting in the act."
"Our men's and women's divers competed in Platform diving for the first time ever. They were fearless going from the 5-, 7- and 10-meter tower. They also set team records."
He added, "For our women, we had an individual team record in the 100 IM. Many of our relay teams had lifetime best splits. All of our swimmers swam in both the prelims and finals, and this also marked the first time we beat Valparaiso and Canisius in an invitational style meet."
"We now have a few days rest for the Thanksgiving holiday but will be back in the pool and on the boards in early December."
