Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne women's basketball team will host the LIU Sharks on Thursday for a Northeast Conference contest inside the Events Center at 7:00 p.m.
The Dolphins, currently in second place in the NEC Standings with a 10-2 conference record, will look for their fourth regular season NEC sweep on Thursday, as they took down LIU in Brooklyn on January 27 by a score of 80-62.
Fifth-year guard
Lytoya Baker (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) recorded a season-best 25 points with 10 rebounds, three assists, three steals and zero turnovers during the team's first-ever meeting with LIU, while sophomore guard
Sierra Linnin (Valley Cottage, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) provided a season-best 17 points.
Le Moyne is currently on a three-game winning streak with a home win over Stonehill on February 9, followed by back-to-back road wins at Central Connecticut State and Stonehill.
Five players scored in double figures during the win at CCSU, the most double-figure scorers that Le Moyne has had in a game this season, led by Baker who registered her NEC-leading 10
th double-double of the season with 17 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals in 38 minutes played. Baker currently leads all NEC players with 9.4 rebounds per conference game.
Graduate guard
Sydney Lusher (Oneida, N.Y./Oneida) recorded 14 points, Linnin tallied 11 points, and sophomore guard
Kaia Goode (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) and redshirt-junior forward
Haedyn Roberts (Holland Patent, N.Y./Holland Patent) each provided 10 points to help complete the regular season sweep of the Blue Devils.
Roberts led Le Moyne in scoring during the win at Stonehill, contributing a game-high 14 points with eight rebounds, two assists and a block. Roberts has now scored in double figures in three consecutive games for the 'Phins.
Le Moyne is currently limiting NEC opponents to a league-leading 54.3 points per game, they are first in the league in three-point field goal percentage during conference play (.342), blocked shots (4.08), assists (13.67), and assist to turnover ratio (1.09).
Baker and Goode are both in the top five of NEC players in assist to turnover ratio during conference play, while Lusher and Linnin are fourth and fifth, respectively, in three-point field goal percentage during NEC play.
The LIU Sharks (6-19, 3-9 NEC) are on a three-game skid with two losses against Merrimack sandwiching a setback at FDU.
LIU fell to the Warriors at home by a score of 61-59 in their most recent outing on Saturday. Sophomore guard Mariah Elohim recorded 21 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steal, while senior guard Ashley Austin tallied 17 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Austin and Elohim are both averaging double figures for the Sharks this season with 14.7 and 11.4 points, respectively.
Junior forward Amaya Dowdy leads all NEC players in blocked shots (1.9 per game), and field goal percentage (.486) to go along with 8.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game, while junior guard Emaia O'Brien leads the league in three-point field goal percentage (.414) on 70 attempts.
During conference play, Dowdy is averaging a league-best 2.5 blocks per game, and O'Brien is 12-24 from three against NEC opponents.
Following Thursday's game, the Le Moyne women's basketball team will travel to Teaneck, New Jersey for a 2:00 p.m. game at FDU on Saturday.
The Dolphins will then play at Wagner on February 29, and then they will close the regular season with 'Senior Day' on March 2 at Ted Grant Court against Saint Francis, the only NEC team that they have not beaten this season.
