Nick Nevins (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) has been named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week and an NEC Prime Performer for week three (February 26 - March 3) of the baseball season.
Nevins went a combined 7-11 at the plate with three runs scored and two runs batted in during the Le Moyne baseball team's three-game series at Saint Louis University.
During game one of the series, which Le Moyne won by a score of 6-5 to hand the Billikens their first loss of the season, Nevins scored Le Moyne's first run after leading off the top of the fourth with a base hit, then he drove in the go-ahead run with two outs in the top of the ninth with a single up the middle.
Nevins went 3-4 at the plate with a double during the second game of the series, then he went 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored in the series finale on Sunday.
Through Le Moyne's first ten games in 2024, Nevins is slashing .429/.512/.600 with seven RBI and six runs scored.
Left-handed starting pitcher
Jacob Crystal (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) was named an NEC Prime Performer for the first time this season due to his outing during game two of the Saint Louis series. Crystal went 7.0 innings and limited the Billikens to eight hits, one walk and one earned run with five strikeouts.
Nevins is the second Le Moyne player to earn NEC Player of the Week honors, as
Brody Keneston (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) took home the award last week.
The Le Moyne baseball team will begin Northeast Conference play this weekend at LIU. Game one of the series is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Friday.
