GARANG NAMED NEC/ATLANTIC TOMORROW’S OFFICE MEN’S BASKETBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Bridgewater, N.J. – Le Moyne College redshirt freshman guard Deng Garang (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) has been named the Northeast Conference/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office men's basketball Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Garang, who joins Jakob Blakley in earning top rookie honors this season, was recognized after averaging 15.0 points, 2.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.5 rebounds, while shooting 60.0 percent (9-of-15) from the field, 75.0 percent (6-of-8) from three-point range and 6-6 at the stripe, as the Dolphins went 2-0. He opened the week by scoring a career-best 15 points, which included going 3-of-4 from three-point range, to go along with two assists and two steals in a 72-68 overtime victory over Wagner on Thursday. He then registered 15 points and went 3-of-4 from three-point range again in an 80-75 win over Chicago State on Saturday, while adding three assists, two rebounds and two steals.

A starter in the last three games after seeing the court in just five of the team's first 23 games, Garang's 30-point week came after scoring just 22 points over seven appearances in the team's first 25 games, while posting 13 points over five appearances in the team's first 23 games against Division I opponents.

Le Moyne (9-18, 4-8 NEC), which has won back-to-back games for the second time this year, remains home and will host Saint Francis University on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
