Paula Casares (A Coruna, Spain/Colegio Maristas Cristo Rey) has been named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week, becoming the first Le Moyne women's tennis player to claim the weekly award.
During a 4-3 loss against Siena on Saturday, Casares and her doubles partner
Isabella Barona (Manta, Ecuador/Talentos de Manta) recorded a 6-3 win at the third position to help the 'Phins capture the first point of the match.
Casares then bested her opponent 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 3 singles match.
On Sunday against Providence, Casares and Barona registered another 6-3 win in the third position, then Casares claimed a 6-4, 6-1 victory in her No. 4 singles match as the Dolphins went on to earn a 4-2 victory over the BIG EAST foe.
Casares was named an NEC Prime Performer for the second week in a row, while sophomore
Ella Fernando (Manchester, England/Stonyhurst College) was named an NEC Prime Performer for the first time this spring.
Fernando won both of her singles matches this weekend, and recorded a 6-3 victory in No. 1 doubles against Siena alongside her partner
