Bridgewater, N.J. – The Le Moyne College baseball team was picked fifth out of 11 teams in the
Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, per a release from the league on Monday.
The Dolphins, who return 19 players from the 2024 squad that compiled a 15-17 conference record in the program's debut season in the NEC, will open the 2025 campaign on February 14 at Tennessee Tech University.
Both LIU and Wagner received four first-place votes, but the defending NEC Tournament Champion LIU received the top spot in the poll, with the Seahawks slotted second.
The Sharks went 24-9 in NEC play last season to earn the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament, where they recorded a comeback victory in the title game to claim the program's second NEC Championship and earn a spot in the NCAA Regionals.
FDU and Central Connecticut State, which finished sixth and seventh in the 2024 NEC Standings, respectively, tied for third in the preseason poll, with CCSU receiving one first-place vote.
Le Moyne, tabbed fifth, and Stonehill, ranked sixth, received the final two first place votes. Stonehill, entering its third season in the Northeast Conference, went 13-17 in league play a season ago.
New conference member Mercyhurst was picked to finish seventh, followed by associate members Norfolk State, Delaware State, Coppin State and Maryland Eastern Shore.
