Tim Denet (West Harrison, N.Y./Iona Prep) has been named the NEC Baseball Rookie of the Week and a Prime Performer for the final week of the regular season.
Denet went 6-for-11 at the plate with two home runs, one triple, four runs and six runs batted in during a series victory against Central Connecticut State University this past weekend at Dick Rockwell Field.
During a 15-5 win over the Blue Devils in game one, Denet recorded his career first multi-home run game with solo home run in the second inning and a three-run shot in the sixth. He added a base hit in the third to finish the contest with three runs and a career-high four runs batted in as the Dolphins earned the win in seven innings.
Denet provided two singles, a triple, one run and two RBIs during game two against CCSU, which resulted in a 9-8 win for the 'Phins.
The weekly award marks the third time this season that Denet has been named NEC Rookie of the Week.
Denet finished his rookie campaign with a team-high 40 runs, 46 hits, six doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 30 walks, a team-high 80 total bases and 33 RBIs with a .295/.437/.513 slash line. His .950 OPS was second on the team behind senior infielder/catcher
