Bridgewater, N.J. – Le Moyne baseball sophomore catcher
Cooper Romich (North Chili, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) has been named to the NEC All-Conference Second Team, per a
release from the league on Wednesday.
Romich becomes the first player in program history to earn All-NEC honorees after compiling a .333 batting average and a .449 on-base percentage with 17 runs, 26 hits, 13 walks and 13 runs batted in during 25 conference games played this season, including 23 starts.
Romich was tied for sixth among NEC players with nine doubles during conference play.
On the year, Romich put together a .319 batting average and a .436 on-base percentage in 30 games played and 28 starts. Behind the plate, Romich tallied 199 putouts and 12 assists in the field, and caught five runners stealing.
During Le Moyne's first conference game of the season, a 13-2 win at FDU, Romich went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, a walk, one hit by pitch, one RBI and three runs scored.
In game two of the Maryland Eastern Shore series, a 12-2 win for the 'Phins, Romich provided two doubles, one walk and three runs.
He contributed one single, one double, one stolen base and two runs during Le Moyne's first non-conference victory of the season, a 12-6 win at UMass Lowell.
Romich had a career day during game two of the Norfolk State series. The sophomore catcher went 4-for-4 at the plate with one double, one walk, one run and a career-high three runs batted in.
During a conference win at Stonehill on April 17, Romich went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs, then went a perfect 3-for-3 with one walk, two doubles and two RBIs in the series finale against the Skyhawks.
Romich helped the Dolphins earn a conference sweep at Coppin State with two hits, one walk, one RBI and two runs in the series finale.
Romich provided two doubles during the LIU series, and recorded his second five-game hitting streak of the season with one hit in each of the three games against the Sharks.
During Le Moyne's 15-5 win over Central Connecticut State on May 15, Romich went 2-for-4 at the plate with one RBI and two runs.
The Le Moyne baseball team finished fifth in the NEC Standings this season with a 17-13 conference record, just one game back of the fourth and final spot in the NEC Tournament.
Le Moyne improved its conference winning percentage by .098 from 2024, when the Dolphins went 15-17 in NEC play during their inaugural season in the Northeast Conference.
