Brooklyn, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's and women's swimming and diving teams traveled to LIU to take on the Sharks in a pair of dual meets on Friday morning. The men's team came away with a 119-104 victory while the women's squad tied with LIU, 102-102, to kick off their spring schedules.
Women's Squad:
The 200-yard medley relay team of senior Brooke Sommo (Guilderland, N.Y. / Guilderland), junior Madeleine O'Dea (Milton, O.N. / Milton District), freshman Ella Twomey (Melrose, Mass. / Landmark), and junior Kayleigh Bigwarfe (Glenmont, N.Y. / Bethlehem) earned second place with a time of 1:53.04.
Sophomore Sydney Stalbaum (Austin, T.X. / Dripping Springs) worked to a final time of 11:39.85 in the 1000-yard freestyle, earning her third place.
Sophomore Shannon Swezey (Bayport, N.Y. / Bayport-Blue Point) and freshman Sophia Stinnett (Hillsborough, N.C. / Cedar Ridge) finished second and third in the 200-yard freestyle with final times of 2:03.11 and 2:03.46, respectively.
Sommo and junior Zoe Coburn (Hickory, N.C. / St. Stephens) earned second and third place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke, coming in at the 1:02.09 and 1:04.05 marks.
O'Dea took the top spot in the 100-yard breaststroke with a final time of 1:07.30, ahead of freshman Katelin Fawcett (Littleton, Colo. / Thunderridge) who finished at the 1:09.99 mark in third place. The pair also finished in the same spots in the 200-yard backstroke with times of 2:27.09 and 2:37.90.
Sophomore Kim Velazquez (Fairfield, Conn. / Fairfield Warde) came in third in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:22.31.
Bigwarfe placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.51 and third in the 100-yard freestyle, coming in at the 55.54 point.
Sommo, Coburn, and freshman Selena Snow (Ijamsville, Md. / Oakdale) swept the top-three place finishes in the 200-yard backstroke with times of 2:13.52, 2:19.59, and 2:20.95, respectively.
Stinnett and junior Abigail Jaros (New Hartford, N.Y. / New Hartford) placed first and third in the 500-yard freestyle with final times of 5:35.53 and 5:57.88.
Fawcett added a third place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a final time of 1:02.97.
O'Dea and freshman Ryann Ellefsen (Staten Island, N.Y. / Notre Dame Academy) earned first and third places in the 200-yard IM with times of 2:18.01 and 2:22.26.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Sommo, sophomore Kaiya Fraley (Watervliet N.Y. / Shaker), Stinnett, and Bigwarfe earned second place with a final time of 3:44.69.
Men's Team:
The 200-yard medley relay team consisting of freshman Owen Daniels (Rhinebeck, N.Y. / Redhook), sophomore Lucas Clay (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker), sophomore Alex Pilieci (Ottawa, O.N. / John McCrae), and junior Justin Enser (Hilton, N.Y. / Hilton) took first place, coming in at the 1:35.30 mark.
Freshman John Mummery (New Windsor, N.Y. / Newburgh) placed third in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:31.83 and second in the 500-yard freestyle, coming in at 4:54.10.
Sophomores Michael White Jr. (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) and Jack Milligan (East Islip, N.Y. / East Islip) finished second and third in the 200-yard freestyle with final times of 1:44.88 and 1:52.60, respectively.
Daniels added first place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke with a final time of 54.30 and 200-yard backstroke at the 1:56.93 mark while freshman Peyton Tuttle (Newburgh, N.Y. / Newburgh) finished third in the latter event with a final time of 2:04.32.
Clay and freshman Neil Adamski (Manlius, N.Y. / Fayetteville-Manlius) placed second and third in the 100-yard breaststroke with final times of 56.41 and 59.18. In the 200-yard version of the breaststroke, the pair finished in first and third at the 2:03.03 and 2:13.92 marks.
Pilieci earned a top-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a final time of 1:56.60 while freshman Max Strohecker (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. / The King's Academy) earned third at the 2:04.21 mark.
Enser finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a final time of 21.82.
White and junior Michael Han (Auckland, New Zealand / Pakuranga College) came in at the 48.25 and 48.97 marks of the 100-yard freestyle, earning them second and third-place finishes. The pair also finished in the same spots in the 200-yard IM with times of 2:02.01 and 2:08.82.
Pilieci and Han took first and second places in the 100-yard butterfly event with final times of 51.85 and 54.08, respectively.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team consisting of Clay, Enser, Pilieci, and Milligan earned second place, finishing out the meet at the 3:13.66 mark.

The Dolphins will host Canisius University in another set of dual meets at the Rev. Vincent B. Ryan, S.J. Pool at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24.
