Bridgewater, N.J. – Le Moyne College redshirt junior guard
Trent Mosquera (Boston, Mass./Belmont Hill School) has been named the Influxer/NEC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
Mosquera is the second Dolphin this season to earn NEC Player of the Week honors (
Shilo Jackson, December 30) and the fourth since the Dolphins joined the NEC (Luke Sutherland, December 18, 2023 and Kaiyem Cleary, January 23, 2024).
Mosquera collects his first career conference accolade after averaging 20.5 points on
50.0 FG% (14-of-28) shooting from the field and 53.3 3FG% (8-of-15) from three-point range, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 blocks in Le Moyne's 2-0 week.
On Friday night in a 69-67 come-from-behind victory over Wagner, he registered 23 points, including 17 in the second half and the go-ahead basket with 40.9 seconds remaining, five rebounds (four offensive) and four assists. He then led six Dolphins in double figures in an 87-74 victory over FDU on Monday with 18 points, 15 of which came in the first half and got him to 600 career points, while he added a team high-tying six rebounds and a pair of assists.
Through 21 games, Mosquera is averaging 14.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game as a starter in each contest. He ranks second in the NEC in three-point percentage at .400 (he ranks 54th nationally), third in three-pointers per game (2.8), fifth in defensive rebounds per game (4.9), sixth in steals, ninth in scoring and 10th in rebounding.
Le Moyne (11-10, 6-2 NEC), which has won four straight games for the first time at the Division I level and is tied with LIU for the most wins in conference action, is back on the hardwood on Thursday at LIU at 7:00 p.m.
