Falcons Edge Le Moyne, 5-4, to Win Fourth Straight

WALTHAM, Mass. - Bentley College did just enough to earn a 5-4 win over Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 men's tennis action Thursday afternoon. The win is the fourth straight for the Falcons and moved them to 13-10 overall and 8-2 in the NE-10, while Le Moyne closes out its regular season at 7-8 and 6-6.
        Bentley took two of the three doubles matches to jump out to a 2-1 lead heading into singles action. The pairing of juniors Greg Maloomian (Needham, Mass. Noble & Greenough) and Greg Avola (Framingham, Mass./St. John's) remained unbeaten in NE-10 play with an 8-2 win at top flight doubles. Ryan Davidson (Glens Falls, N.Y.) and Frank Donaldson (Brewerton, N.Y.) evened the match with an 8-2 win at number two doubles, but the Falcons would capture the third doubles point with an 8-2 win from freshman Miles Holman (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow) and junior Marc Makowski (Nashua. N.H./Bishop Guertin). 
        Maloomian and Avola quickly put Bentley up 4-1 with dominating performances in the top two flights of singles play. Maloomian cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win, while Avola dropped just one game in winning 6-0, 6-1. Bentley clinched the match minutes later as freshman Michael Dolan (Shrewsbury, Mass./St. John's) posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at number five. Le Moyne would win the final three matches on the court to close the gap in the final score line. Jason Kerznowski (East Syracuse, N.Y.) won 6-3, 6-4 at number six, while Donaldson posted a 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 win at number three. Davison and Mike McCrillis (Kennebunkport, Maine/Cheverus) faced-off in the best match of the afternoon with Davidson winning 7-6, 6-7, (13-11) in a super tiebreak third set.
        Bentley closes out its regular season on Monday with a visit to AIC at 3:30, while Le Moyne is off until the NE-10 Quarterfinals on Wednesday April 19th.
