MSOC: DOLPHINS AND BENTLEY TIE, 0-0, IN NORTHEAST-10 ACTION

Syracuse, N.Y. – Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Zac Haenlin (Lowville, N.Y./Lowville) made four saves to lead the Le Moyne College men's soccer team to a 0-0 tie with Bentley on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. Le Moyne moves to 2-2-3 on the season, 1-1-2 in the Northeast-10, while Bentley is now 4-1-2, 1-0-2 in the conference.

In first half, the Dolphins posted a 6-1 advantage in shots, but could not find the back of the net. Le Moyne's two best scoring chances in the half came just over three minutes into the contest. Senior forward Angelo Reina (Frankfort, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame) went in 1-on-1 with Bentley goalkeeper Mike Nikiforov at the 3:24 mark, but Nikiforov slid out to make the save. Senior Justin Fredsell (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford/Buffalo) drilled the rebound at the goal from 15 yards out, but Nikiforov knocked the ball out of bounds.

After intermission, the Dolphins kept the pressure on the Falcons and posted a 17-6 shot advantage. The Dolphins had a pair of scoring opportunities 20 minutes into the half. Sophomore Vince Scaravillo (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) blasted a shot off the crossbar from the left side of the goal at the 65:34 mark, while 50 seconds later Reina had a header bounce off of the crossbar. With just over 13 minutes, freshman Michael Spadine">Michael Spadine (Owego, N.Y./Owego) had a pair of shots off rebounds, but the first was saved by Nikiforov and the second missed to the left.

After the first overtime period in which the Dolphins recorded the only two shots, Spadine went in 1-on-1 with Nikiforov two minutes into the second overtime, but Nikiforov made a diving save to his right to push the ball away from the goal.

Haenlin registered three of his four saves in the second half, while Nikiforov made 10 saves in the contest, including four in each half. The Dolphins finished the game with a 27-9 advantage in shots and an 8-5 edge in corner kicks.

Le Moyne (2-2-3, NE-10 1-1-2), which has shut out Bentley in each of the last three match-ups, returns to action on Tuesday at Assumption at 3:30 p.m.
