Suffern, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's golf team wrapped up its fall season with a seventh-place finish at the fifth annual Charger Challenge hosted by Dominican College on Sunday and Monday at the par-72, 6894-yard Spook Rock Golf Course.
St. Thomas Aquinas won the team competition with a 12-over par 588, which included a three-under par 285 on Monday. Matt Horton of The College of Saint Rose garnered medalist honors with a two-under par 142 after a 73 on Sunday and a 69 in the second round. Goldey-Beacom, which was in a four-way tie for first after the first day with a 303, finished second with a 603. Dowling and Saint Rose, which were also part of the first-day tie, placed third and fourth, respectively, with a 610 and a 612. UMass Lowell rounded out the top-five with a 613 (312-301). The Dolphins registered a season-best 626 after posting a season best-tying 309 on Sunday and a 317 on Monday to finish seventh.
Senior Anthony Viskovich (Massena, N.Y./Massena) and freshman Dan Molter (Port Crane, N.Y./Chenango Forks) led the Dolphins as each posted a 156 to land in a three-way tie for 21st place. Viskovich carded a 78 in each round, while Molter shot a 76 in the first round and an 80 on the second day. Junior Josh Cook (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool/Onondaga C.C.) was one shot behind with a 157 to tie for 24th place after rounds of 76 and 81. Freshman Sam Eno (Dennis, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth Regional) tied for 29th place with a 158 after recording a 79 in each round. Junior Nick Tryniski (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker), making his debut for the Dolphins, posted a 166 on rounds of 86 and 80 to tie for 47th place.
