Clymer, N.Y. – Junior Kathleen Reidy (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) shot a 185 as the Le Moyne College women's golf team placed 18th at the Michael Corbett Fall Classic hosted by Gannon University on Sunday and Monday at the par-72, 5,875-yard Peek 'n Peak Golf Resort.
Grand Valley State won the team competition by 13 strokes with a combined score of 603 after rounds of 299 and 304. Wallis Spear claimed medalist honors after posting a seven-over par 145 to lead St. Edward to a second-place finish with a 616 (301-315). California (Pa.) registered a 624 to place third, while Ashland recorded a 633 for fourth and Gannon posted a 637 for fifth place.
Reidy, who had the team's lowest scoring average last spring, opened the tournament with a 92 before carding a 93 on Monday to finish in a tie for 69th with a 185. Freshman Jocelyn Bender (Webster, N.Y./Webster) finished in a tie for 78th in her collegiate debut after posting rounds of 98 and 91 for a 189. Sophomore Laura Nicolais (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) registered a 96 on Sunday and a 109 on Monday to place 96th with a 205, while classmate Emma Plucinik (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) tied for 100th with a 219 on rounds of 109 and 110. Sophomore Shea Turney (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt/St. Leo), playing in her first tournament with the Dolphins, placed 103rd with a 221 after rounds of 104 and 117.
The Dolphins return to action on Saturday and Sunday at the William Smith Invitational at Clifton Springs Country Club in Clifton Springs, N.Y.
