WOMEN’S GOLF PLACES 12TH AT UALBANY GREAT DANES INVITATIONAL

Delmar, N.Y. – Junior Gianna Cafarella (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory School) tied for 38th place to lead the Le Moyne College women's golf team to a 12th-place finish at the UAlbany Great Danes Invitational on Sunday and Monday at the par-70, 5888-yard Normanside Country Club.

Boston University won the team competition with a two-day total of 593 off rounds of 286 and 307. St. John's University placed second at 596 off scores of 295 and 301. The host Great Danes were third at 604 after rounds of 292 and 312. Le Moyne posted a 670 to place 12th following scores of 321 and 349. Kelly Wu from St. John's earned medalist honors with a four-under score of 136 after rounds of three-under 67 and one-under 69.

Cafarella tied for 38th in the 80-player field with a 36-hole total of 162, which included one birdie and 19 pars. She was in a four-way tie for 20th place after tallying a 76 in the first round, which featured 13 pars. She followed with an 86 in the second round, including one birdie and six pars.

Freshman Elizabeth Holden (Clinton, Maine/Lawrence) tied for 55th with a 168, which featured 17 pars. She turned in an 81 in the first round, including 11 pars, to end the day in a seven-way tie for 49th place. She recorded an 87 in the second round, which included six pars.

Senior Riley Stuver (Webster, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) and freshman Caroline McShea (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) landed in a three-way tie for 58th with a score of 170, which included Stuver recording one birdie and 11 pars and McShea having McShea had one birdie and 12 pars.

Stuver joined Holden in the seven-way tie for 49th with a first-round 81, which featured one birdie and seven pars. She registered an 89 on the second day, which included four pars.

McShea was in a four-way tie for 58th after an 83 on Sunday, which featured one birdie and six pars. She recorded an 87 on the second day, including six pars, to remain in the tie for 58th.

Sophomore Lauren Williams (San Francisco, Calif./University HS) tied for 68th with a total of 177, which included eight pars. She was in a tie for 70th after an 87, featuring four pars, in the first round. She moved up two spots with a 90, including four pars, on Monday.

The Dolphins close out the Fall semester by hosting the Le Moyne Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Bellevue Country Club.
