Dracut, Mass. – The Le Moyne College men's golf team finished in a tie for seventh-place at the River Hawk Invitational. The two-day tournament was held at the par 70, 6281-yard Meadow Creek Golf Course over the weekend.
UMass Lowell took the team competition with a 42-over par, 602, after carding a 309 on day one and a tournament best 293 on day two of the tournament. Bentley University, the leader after the first day, finished in a tie for second with American International after both teams posted a two-day total of 611. Bentley was led by Matt Michael, who earned medalist honors, after he shot an even-par 140. Franklin Pierce finished the tournament in fourth place after being only two strokes off the lead after the first round. Franklin Pierce registered a 302 on Saturday, and a 311 on Sunday. Rounding out the top five was Pace with a two-day team score of 618. Le Moyne began the invitational with a round one score of 312 and carded a 321 in round two.
The Dolphins were led by freshman Sam Eno (Dennis, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth Regional). Eno shot a 76 on day one and an 80 on Sunday to finish in a five-way tie for 19th place. Classmate Mitch Hillegas (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) finished one stroke behind Eno to finish in a three-way tie for 24th. He shot an 80 in the first round, and posted a 77 on day two. Freshman Dan Molter (Port Crane, N.Y./Chenango Forks) tied for 27th with a tournament score of 159. Molter carded a 77 on Saturday and an 82 in the second round. Senior Anthony Viskovich (Massena, N.Y./Massena) finished tied for 31st after scoring a 161 over the weekend. Sophomore John Maurer (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) finished the tournament with a score of 176.
Le Moyne returns to action Monday, April 16th when it travels to American International to compete in the two-day AIC Yellow Jacket Invitational at the Ludlow Country Club.
