Riverhead, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's golf team placed 15th on Saturday and Sunday at the eighth annual Peter King Memorial at the par-71, 6,720-yard Long Island National Golf Course.
UMass-Lowell captured the team competition with a 34-over par 602, edging out Daemen by two strokes. UMass-Lowell had a 12 shot lead after the first day of the tournament with a score of 298 and was able to hold onto the lead on Sunday by registering a second round score of 304. American International finished in third place with a score of 613 and Bentley earned fourth place after registering a two-day score of 617. Rounding out the top five was St. Thomas Aquinas with a 51-over par 619.
Tommy Linehan of St. Thomas Aquinas earned medalist honors with his two-day score of four-over par 146. Linehan's first round 70 was the only score under-par by all competitors in the tournament. Finishing in a three-way tie for second place, one stroke behind Linehan, were Cole Childs of UMass-Lowell, Matt Horton of Saint Rose and Tommy Romano of Daemen.
Freshman Dan Molter (Port Crane, N.Y./Chenango Forks) paced the Dolphins with a two-day score of 157 to finish in a seven-way tie for 28th. Junior Josh Cook (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool/Onondaga C.C.) and senior Anthony Viskovich (Massena, N.Y./Massena) each finished the tournament with a score 160. Cook and Viskovich finished in a seven-way tie for 44th. Junior Nick Tryniski (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) shot a 173 and senior Chris Sova (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) registered a 175.
The Dolphins return to action on Tuesday, April 10th when they host the Empire State Collegiate Golf Spring Challenge at Timber Banks Golf Course in Baldwinsville, N.Y.
