Berlin, Conn. – Senior Josh Cook (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool/Onondaga C.C.) placed in a tie for 18th to lead the Le Moyne College men's golf team to an eighth-place finish at the Northeast Intercollegiate Golf Championships, hosted by Post University, on Sunday and Monday at the par-72, 6797-yard Timberlin Golf Course.
UMass Lowell won the team competition after registering a 611 on rounds of 304 and 307. The host Eagles placed second with a 618 on rounds of 310 and 308, while American International finished in third place after posting consecutive rounds of 312. Saint Anselm recorded rounds of 321 and 308 to finish fourth, while Dowling landed in fifth place with a 632 (319-313).Post University's Thomas Rees earned medalist honors after firing a four-over par 148 (73-75).
Cook opened the tournament on Sunday with an 80 to land in a tie for 19th place and jumped up a spot on Monday with a 78 to finish at 158. Sophomore Dan Molter (Port Crane, N.Y./Chenango Forks) carded a 160 on rounds of 81 and 79 to finish in a tie for 23rd place. Freshman Aidan Fuller (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) placed in a tie for 26th after posting an 82 on Sunday and a 79 in the second round for a 161. After posting a first-round 89, junior Billy Markey (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) improved by 10 shots on Monday to finish in a tie for 43rd place, while sophomore Dan Edwards (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira Free Academy) rounded out Le Moyne's five competitors with a 170 to place 46th.
Le Moyne returns to action on Friday and Saturday at the Dowling September Shootout at Long Island National Golf Course in Riverhead, N.Y.
